Varsity Girls Basketball Defeats USN for First Win The varsity girls basketball team traveled to USN on Friday, Dec. 9. The team came out strong and never looked back. After the first quarter, the score was 14-4 in favor of the Hawks. The offensive and defensive effort picked up even more in the third quarter as the girls went on a 17-0 run. The final score was 38-11. Louisa Smith led all scorer's with 9 points. HarperAtwood and Margaret Greathouse scored 6 points each in the win. Caroline Sheets and Jamie Gaddie Embry chipped in 5 points each. It was a great team effort and an awesome way to go into the winter break. Way to go Hawks!
Varsity Boys Basketball Wins Season Opener vs USN 40-15 The boys varsity basketball team opened up the season last Friday night with a win at USN. The Hawks played lights out on defense led by Smith Morris who wreaked havoc on the opposing teams offense. Smith led the charge on defense ending the game with 6 steals and causing many more USN turnovers. The boys only allowed 7 first half points. The start of the second half saw an explosion for the Hawks offense led by ElijahWestbrook who had 8 points in the 3rd quarter. Elijah ended the game with a total of 13 points and 8 rebounds. Coming off the bench in the 4th quarter was EliPerry who immediately hit 3 straight 3s and was the second leading scorer for the Hawks with 9 points.
6th Grade Boys Basketball Loses Tough Game at USN The 6th grade boys basketball team took on USN in a tough back and forth battle in their second game of the season. The Hawks led the in the first quarter and went into half trailing by only four. Foul trouble and a couple of costly second half turnovers allowed USN to pull away in the fourth quarter. The boys made huge improvement from their first game and are continuing to grow in the right direction. Leading the charge on offense was Pike McDaniel with 9pts as well as Nash Donahue and Rex Waddey each adding 6pts. NashDonahue and ColeGerber both led the team with 4 rebounds a piece.
