Middle School (6-8) Academics
In Harding’s PreK-8 model, middle schoolers aren’t “stuck” in the middle. Our middle school is the proving ground students need in order to make a smooth transition to the increased demands of any high school.
Beyond Prepared
Our students are routinely accepted into their first-choice high schools, including the most competitive independent schools in the nation. But excellent academic preparation is only part of the story. Just as importantly, Harding Academy students are valued for being innovative thinkers, active classroom participants, and natural campus leaders.

High Performance
In middle school as in the lower school, reading skills are emphasized across all subjects. Whether in English, math, social studies, science, art, computer, or music, students learn to interpret the written word. Evidence of our program’s effectiveness can be seen in our test scores, consistently ranking higher than national averages as determined by Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP) scores from the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).
A Supportive Environment
Between developmental changes and academic challenges, the middle school years aren’t always easy. Harding’s PreK–8 environment provides a supportive structure within which young adolescents can thrive. Thanks to numerous opportunities to lead, middle school students grow in self-esteem and self-reliance as they participate in meaningful ways.
