Varsity Girls Basketball Goes 2-0 This Week The varsity girls basketball team welcomed Valor to the Robert's gymnasium on Wednesday, January 8 after being off for two weeks for winter break. The lay off was evident after the first half. However, the Hawks took a 15-6 lead. In the second half, the offensive production and defensive effort picked up and the girls ran away with the win. The final score was 38-13. Harper Atwood led all scorers with 10 points. Jamie Gaddie Embry and LouisaSmith pumped in 9 points each in the win. It was a great win after a long break.
On Thursday, January 9 the Hawks hosted Christ The King. After the first quarter, the score was 7-4 in favor of the Hawks. In the second quarter, there was an offensive explosion and great defensive pressure. Going into the half the girls were up 23-4. Once again a balanced scoring attack propelled the Hawks to a victory. Jamie Gaddie Embry and Riley Bertelli led the team in scoring with 9 points each. Louisa Smith chipped in 7 points, Diane French added 6 points, and Caroline Sheets scored 5 points. The final score was 41-14 in favor of the Hawks. We are so proud of the team. With this win, the girls improved to 3-1 on the young season! Go Hawks!
