Varsity Girls Basketball Goes 2-0 This Week
The varsity girls basketball team traveled to St. Cecilia and St. Matthew this week. In the first game against SCA, the team played fantastic defense throughout the game. The final score was 40-4 in favor of the Hawks. Diane French led the team in scoring with 9 points. Louisa Smith scored all of her 8 points in the first quarter. Harper Atwood pumped in 7 points and Blythe Darden added 5 points in the win.

On Thursday, January 23 the Hawks traveled to St. Matthew School. This was a back and forth game in the first quarter and after one the score was 6-6. In the second quarter, the offensive output was amazing. Going into the half, the Hawks were up 24-9. The team didn't let up and continued the defensive effort in the second half. The final score was 33-14. Diane French led the team in scoring with 8 points. We also had seven other players get into the scoring column in the victory. With this win, the team has improved to 8-1. Way to go Hawks!

Close Win for 6th Grade Boys Basketball
The Harding 6th grade boys basketball team took on St.Bernard Academy in a hard fought battle on the court Friday night. The boys were coming into this game after a long week of playing games. Harding started the game in a back and forth battle ending the first quarter tied 6-6. The battle would continue going into halftime with Harding leading 16-15.

In the second half, the intensity picked up as Harding would go on a small run but SBA would close the gap to end the 3rd quarter 27-26. The fourth quarter was tough with both sides making good shots and the game would come down to SBA going to the free throw line down 38-40 with 1 second left. SBA would make the first free throw making it a 1 point game, but would miss the second free throw with Cole Gerber’27 coming down with the rebound to seal the win.

Nash Donahue’27 would lead the team in scoring with 13 points followed by Rex Waddey’27 with 12 points. Pike McDaniel’27, Henry Hardin’27, and Cole Gerber’27 also contributed to the scoresheet with 7 points, 5 points, and 3 points respectively.
