Hawk Wrestlers Take 4th at HVAC Tournament

Corby Lucas
It was a great day of wrestling for the Hawks at the HVAC tournament at Brentwood Academy Middle School as they crowned 2 champions and had 2 other wrestlers place in the top 3. Harding came in 4th place overall behind team champion Brentwood Academy, Runner-Up Montgomery Bell Academy and 3rd place finisher Battleground Academy. There were 9 teams competing in the tournament.

Harding was led by two individual champions, Quinn Taylor '23 and RJ Perkins '22. Perkins capped his Harding wrestling career by going 9-0 with 9 pins and received votes as the tournament's outstanding wrestler. Taylor won the conference title in his first year of wrestling, an amazing feat!

Placing 3rd for Harding were Cian Corby '24 and Sam Bowers '22. They battled through the consolation bracket to get to their respective 3rd place matches where they both earned victories by pin. Grant Song '23, Christian Land '22 and Maxwell Payton '24 all came in 4th for the Hawks.

Also competing in the tournament for Harding were Colton Bowers '24, Carter Billings '24, and Matthew Johnson '24. All of them competed well and improved tremendously throughout the season!

Congratulations to all of our wrestlers including those who came to support their teammates. It was a fun and exciting season and we were so happy to be back out on the mats in 2021! Go Hawks!!
